Armstrong Garden Centers Teaches Pasadenans Waterwise Gardening

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

On April 14th, just one day before mandatory water restrictions go into effect in California, Armstrong Garden Center’s in Pasadena was already fully prepared and ready with tips for drought-conscious Pasadenans.

Sharing with local media outlets their newest water-friendly garden, Armstrong also had on display a variety of products that can also help to create a more water-friendly garden.

The team replaced a large, lush lawn that used to sit in front of the store.

What we noticed the most was the abundance of colors and varieties of plants available in their new garden. From succulents to kangaroo paw to a beautiful yellow verbena, low-water plants don’t just have to be cacti. Within just a few minutes, several large butterflies passed through the garden, stopping on their favorite flowers.

“We wanted to make the garden beautiful for the neighborhood while incorporating the many options homeowners have in transitioning their own landscapes into waterwise gardens,” continues Enright.

Another easy suggestion any homeowner or renter can follow is to ensure their hose and faucet doesn’t leak. Don’t worry—they have plenty of hoses and nozzles available if yours isn’t in such good shape.

Armstrong Garden Centers has lots of suggestions to get everyone involved in water conservation and all the supplies you need to complete your projects.   We’ll be sharing more from them soon.
