Shelter Pets Find Homes for the Holidays

Pasadena Humane Society teams with KTLA for free adoption day and donation drive

Friday, December 2, 2016

Wondering how you can make a shelter pet’s life merrier this holiday season? Adopt or donate at the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA (PHS). On Thursday, December 8, PHS joins forces with KTLA 5 for Take 5 to Care, a day-long free pet adoption event and donation drive aimed at finding our furry friends forever homes for the holidays.

During the event, the adoption fee will be waived for all available dogs, cats, rabbits and other critters. The adoption includes the spay/neuter surgery, a microchip and up-to-date vaccines. Many pets are available to go to their new homes the same day as adoption, while others may need to stay a few extra days at the shelter. After adopting, visitors can head over to the shelter’s retail store to pick up food and other supplies for their adopted pet.

For those who would like to support PHS in other ways, the shelter is accepting donations online at pasadenahumane.org/donate or by texting PAWS to 27722. Monetary and in-kind donations can also be dropped off at the shelter. The shelter’s wish list can be found at pasadenahumane.org/wishlist.

“Our greatest wish this holiday season is for the animals in our shelter to find a warm and loving home,” said Julie Bank, President and CEO of the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA. “We thank KTLA 5 for their generosity and for enabling us to better serve animals in the Los Angeles area.”

Take 5 to Care is KTLA 5’s year-round commitment to engage, educate and involve Southern California individuals and families with matters that affect the community. This year marks the second time the TV station has partnered with PHS to increase pet adoptions around the holidays.

To promote the free adoption event, KTLA 5 News will be broadcasting live from the Pasadena Humane Society during the day.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Pasadena Humane Society in our shared commitment to shelter pets this holiday season! What better way to celebrate the spirit of giving than to help find a forever home for every pet in need!!” said Adrianne Anderson, Vice President of Creative Services at KTLA 5.

The Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA is located at 361 S. Raymond Avenue in Pasadena. Adoption hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regular adoption policies and screening apply. View adoptable animals at pasadenahumane.org.
